What is Vote by Mail?

Any registered voter can vote by mail. It's easy, safe and convenient. You will receive your ballot in the mail. After voting, return it in the envelope provided. You have two options to vote by mail:

How does Vote by Mail work?

Vote by Mail Ballots are Mailed starting 29 days before an election.

When you receive your ballot, you will mark your choices by filling in the Vote by Mail Ballot. You can return your completed Vote by Mail Ballot using one of the options below:

  • Mail your ballot to the Kern County Elections Office:

Ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day and received within 7 days following an election.


  • Return your ballot to our office anytime Monday-Friday regular business hours or until 8:00 PM on Election Day; or to any polling site by the close of polls on Election Day.
