What are the different Poll Worker positions?

Poll workers work together as a team to help voters at their poll site. All volunteers who work at the polls are known as Election Officers.

Different positions include:

Clerk

  • Set up poll site
  • Set up accessible ballot marking device(s)
  • Help voters find correct table or site
  • Regular inspection of the poll site- inside and out
  • Site reconciliation and certification
  • End of night packing of supplies

Inspector (all clerk duties plus)

  • Contact Clerks at your table to make sure they are ready to work
  • Supervise and assign duties to Clerks
  • Coordinate with Site Supervisor or Supervisor/Inspector
  • Fill vacancies on Election Day

Supervisor/Inspector (all clerk duties plus)

  • Contact the site to coordinate set up the day before the Election
  • Contact Clerks at your table to make sure they are ready to work and available for set up
  • Supervise and assign duties to Clerks
  • Coordinate with Inspector
  • Fill vacancies on Election Day

Site Supervisor

  • Contact the site to coordinate set up the day before the Election
  • Coordinate with Inspector
  • Fill vacancies on Election Day

ADA

  • Inventory ADA materials
  • Set up all ADA signage and materials
  • Monitor ADA site setup and certify correct placement

Student

  • Set up poll site
  • Set up accessible ballot marking device(s)
  • Help voters find correct table or site
  • Regular inspection of the poll site- inside and out
  • Site reconciliation and certification
  • End of night packing of supplies
